Elastomeric biomaterial gains increasing interest in soft tissue repair and regeneration due to its softness and elasticity, which can provide mechanical support and mechanical matching for target soft tissues, such as heart muscle and blood vessel. Elastomeric biodegradable polyurethane is attractive for this application. In terms of flexible chemistry of polyurethane synthesis, the conventional polyurethane can be designed to be functional polyurethanes having controlled degradation, tunable mechanical properties, and functions, and then has potential to be used for soft tissue repair and regeneration. In this talk, chemical structure designing, scaffold processing and biomedical applications of the polyurethane will be introduced.
